Our Job Opportunities

Mechanical Product Designer

1 open position

We are looking for a practical and autonomous Mechanical Product Designer to join the product development team at FluxPose.

This is a hands-on product design role combining mechanical and industrial design, CAD modelling, prototyping, testing, tooling development, and design for manufacturing.

During the initial phase of the role, your main focus will be developing accessories and mechanical integrations for our current FluxPose products. This will predominantly include adapters for virtual reality headsets and controllers, mounting systems, wearable accessories, and other components that allow FluxPose technology to be securely and accurately integrated into existing devices.

The role will also include the design of tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, and other practical equipment for our production environment.

As production of our current products becomes more established, the position will progressively expand into the development of more complex accessories and future FluxPose products. These could include new wearable devices, controllers, tracking accessories, mechanisms, enclosures, and other physical hardware products.

You will work directly with physical products: measuring and scanning their geometry, developing CAD models, manufacturing prototypes, testing them, identifying problems, and iterating until the final solution is robust, ergonomic, accurate, and easy to install.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of projects, work with a high degree of autonomy, make practical design decisions, and carry ideas from an initial concept through to a tested physical solution.

Responsibilities

  • Design CAD adapters, mounts, brackets, attachment systems, and accessories for integrating FluxPose technology into third-party products.
  • Work with virtual reality headsets, gloves, controllers, straps, trackers, wearables, and other electronic devices.
  • Measuer and 3D Scan physical objects to obtain accurate reference geometries.
  • Design parts that fit correctly with existing products from manufacturers such as Meta Quest, Valve, HTC Vive, Bigscreen, and others.
  • Prepare designs optimised for FDM, resin 3D printing and injection molding.
  • Manufacture, assemble, test, and physically validate prototypes.
  • Iterate on designs until they are robust, comfortable, accurate, and easy to install.
  • Document designs, revisions, assembly criteria, and installation procedures.
  • Collaborate with the wider hardware and product teams.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, and other equipment for our production environment.
  • Gradually contribute to other projects involving product design, tooling, manufacturing, and production process improvement.

Requirements

  • Practical experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360.
  • A portfolio of personal, academic, or professional projects.
  • Ability to design mechanical parts around existing products and geometries.
  • Experience or practical knowledge of FDM and/or resin 3D printing.
  • Ability to assemble, test, and critically evaluate physical designs.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding tolerances, fit, fastening methods, and assembly.
  • A practical mindset and the ability to perform multiple iterations on the same design.
  • A good working level of English.
  • Availability to start immediately or within approximately one month.
  • No specific degree is required, provided that the necessary knowledge and practical ability can be demonstrated.

Spanish is not required, although some knowledge of Spanish would be appreciated.

Highly Valued Experience

  • Experience designing adapters, enclosures, mounts, brackets, or accessories.
  • Experience using 3D scanners.
  • Experience designing parts for plastic injection moulding.
  • Knowledge of tolerances and common manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with materials such as ABS, PLA, PETG, TPU, nylon, resin, or polycarbonate.
  • Basic knowledge of ergonomics.
  • Experience designing mechanical parts for electronics, wearables, or consumer devices.
  • Familiarity with virtual reality, trackers, headsets, gloves, controllers, or positioning systems.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • A degree or equivalent training in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • A maker mindset: build, test, identify problems, correct them, and iterate.

Career Development at FluxPose

The initial objective of the role will be to develop the integrations and adapters required for FluxPose’s current products over an estimated period of approximately one year.

Once this phase is completed, and depending on performance, technical ability, personal interests, and the needs of the company, there will be opportunities to move into other responsibilities within FluxPose, including:

  • Mechanical and product design.
  • Development of new accessories and devices.
  • Design of parts for mass production.
  • Design and development of tooling and machinery.
  • Product prototyping and validation.
  • Improvement of assembly and production processes.
  • Design for manufacturing and industrialisation.

We are therefore looking for someone who can solve a specific short-term need, but who is also interested in learning, taking on greater responsibility, and growing alongside the company.

Working Arrangement

The role is primarily intended to be on-site, as it involves frequent hands-on work with physical devices, tools, 3D printers, scanners, prototypes, and validation equipment in our laboratory.

However, for an exceptional candidate with particularly strong skills and relevant experience, we are open to considering a different or more flexible working arrangement.

A partially remote arrangement may also become possible over time, depending on the responsibilities of the role and the status of the projects.

What We Offer

  • Direct involvement in the development of a real hardware product that will be used by thousands of people.
  • Work on projects involving virtual reality, wearables, and immersive technology.
  • A small, young, highly technical team with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Access to our own laboratory, tools, 3D printers, scanners, prototypes, and testing equipment.
  • The opportunity to quickly see and test the physical results of your work.
  • Participation across multiple stages of product development, from concept and prototyping through to manufacturing.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Competitive salary based on experience and ability.
  • Salary reviews linked to responsibility, professional growth, and impact.
  • Genuine opportunities to grow into other areas of product design and development within FluxPose.
